House Remodel: Amazing Rebuild After A Fire In Westview, Atlanta
This house remodel takes place after a house fire destroys this family’s home in Westview, Atlanta. The only parts left standing are the foundation and front side of the house. The kitchen, bathrooms, dining room, living room, and porch are all remodels while the back deck is brand new.
You can follow Ken and Barb as they look around their newly remodeled house in Westview.

“We’re going from hotel to home-tel honey,” Ken lamely jokes.
Barb smiles and shakes her head. His poor attempts at humor always manage to make her smile. She’s kind of nervous right now so she really appreciates it.
They’re on the way to their new home and she has no idea what it’s going to look like.
Basing it off of MOG’s (their house remodeling contractor) previous work it should look amazing, but Barb still can’t shake the nervousness she’s feeling. Or maybe it’s excitement, but most likely both.
Either way it’s… “Oh, honey, we have our house back” she says as tears spring to her eyes:
Barb, lost in her thoughts, didn’t notice they were near their home until Ken pulled up in front of it.
“Let’s go see the inside, I’ll bet it’s even better,” Ken says excitedly as he parks the car. Barb doesn’t hear him as she’s already out of the car. “Hurry, Ken, we are so close I cannot believe it I am already so happy I almost do not know what to do with myself!” she tearfully gushes.
He jumps out of the car and they rush to the front door.
An Open Concept Living Space
Barb opens the door to a long hallway with doors on either side.
She and Ken stand there for a moment in awe, remembering back to when it was nothing more than a burnt out husk of a house.
Barb blinks the tears from her eyes and swallows back a sob as her hand covers her mouth. Ken coughs in a poor attempt to cover up his own sob and gently says, “Let’s go on in, hon.”
Barb steps inside and slowly glides down the hallway in amazement. She can’t stop looking at the walls, floor, and ceiling in disbelief, as though they are a mirage.
“Whoa-whoa-whoa,” sputters Ken as he lightly bumps into her. He looks up, and what he sees stuns him into silence as well:
“This. Is. Amazing,” Barb whispers, as though talking will wake her up from this dream. Ken only nods in agreement as they walk into the room. The open concept design means the kitchen, dining room, and living room are all in one room, no walls separating them.
“Now we won’t have to leave the room to check on the food,” Ken says brightly. Barb knows he hates being left out when he goes to the kitchen.
“Right! And just look at the furniture they chose”:
Then the couple turns their attention to the kitchen.
“I’m going to make a feast tonight to celebrate and to break in this new kitchen!” says Ken, though it turns out he’s talking to himself. Barb leaves him in the main room to explore a particularly interesting looking one on the side.
“Honey, come here, quick!” Barb cries out. Ken rushes into the next room, “What’s going on, is everything ok babe?” Ken says with alarm. “This is more than okay, it is fantastic,” she replies. He breathes a sigh of relief and looks around to see the master bedroom:
Before he has time to say anything, Barb grabs his hand and pulls him into the master bathroom.
“Just look at this, Ken. I mean, just look at it because ever since I saw it I cannot stop.” She stops talking when she notices Ken’s mouth dropping open a little. She can’t blame him, hers did the same thing when she saw this:
“Are you sure we’re even allowed to use this,” Ken asks in a serious tone. Barb looks at him in surprise and bursts into light-hearted laughter, “Yes, sweetie, we can use this, it is our bathroom. This really is a master bathroom, and it turned out better than I even imagined. I wonder if the other bathroom is nice too?”
The couple continues to explore the rest of their newly remodeled home:
Even the hall bathroom has a modern, exquisite look to it.
“So far it feels like a dream,” Barb says in wonder. She’s so glad she allowed MOG to have a hand in designing their new house remodel.
“If you think this is good, wait ’til you see what’s out back,” Ken says back.
Barb can’t seem to remember what they did for their backyard. Was it landscaping, or maybe a water feature…
They walk outside and right onto their brand new back deck.
They hadn’t had one of these before and they thought they may as well add it on now as part of the house remodel:
“This is, just, almost too amazing. I do not even know what I want to do first,” Barb says. “Well, I’ll tell you what,” Ken says thoughtfully, “How about we go and pick up some groceries and cook a feast to break in our new home. After that, well, we can cross that bridge when we come to it.”
They head out to the car as though walking on sunshine with thoughts of their new home dancing through their heads.
