Carpet cleaning is something most of us dread to do. Unfortunate accidents happen and there will be unwanted spills that will cause some ugly stains. A home with kids and pets is guaranteed to be more prone to spills. No need to worry, here are a few DIY carpet stain removing methods and steps that will save you the hassle of getting your whole carpet professionally cleaned.
First, you must remove the excess as soon as you notice a spill. With an absorbent cloth, wipe from the outside of the stain and work yourself towards the middle. Keep in mind to blot instead of rub, as this can make the stain permanent.
Next, spray carpet stain remover on the spill. If you want to opt for a natural solution, you make mix 1 teaspoon of dishwashing liquid with 1 quart of lukewarm water as you add ¼ teaspoon of vinegar.
Finally, grab another absorbent cloth and being to blot from the outside work your way back to the middle. You can repeat this until the cloth no longer picks up any spill. To dry the area, place paper towels or a thick cloth and place a heave object on top to help absorb.
